HAPPYMOOR Crew’s visual Experience Designer Thomas Freundlich brings a smooth movement to video productions with his dancer-choreographer background.
Who are you?
Thomas Freundlich, based in Kotka, Finland, videographer and producer, multidisciplinary professional in communications and the performing arts.
What kind of working experience do you have?
My original background and training is as a dancer and choreographer, but over the last five to ten years I have transitioned into the field of motion imaging. Currently, I mostly work on audiovisual production for the performing arts, in addition to documentary and short film productions. In addition, I have quite a bit of experience in different kinds of communications work in the corporate world.
What’s your expertise?
Filming movement in its different forms is something of a speciality. A background in dance helps with this, and it has been nice to be able to utilise my performing arts experience in corporate projects – and vice versa. A native language background in Finnish and English has made it easy to operate in international teams and projects.
What are the characteristics that describe you as a person?
Dependable, calm, punctual. I guess people usually find it pretty easy to work with me.
How long have you been an entrepreneur?
Pretty much all my adult life. About 15 years ago I tried a regular day job for a while. Nothing wrong with it but wasn’t really my thing.
What are your greatest achievements in the working life?
It’s hard to single out a particular major victory, and on the other hand the work is always about continuous learning, so I don’t think there will ever be a day when you feel “yeah, now we have this down perfectly and are the masters of our craft”. In the film scene, it’s been cool to see how well some of my projects have done internationally – for example my short film Cold Storage has been, for the last three years, the most widely screened Finnish film of any genre at film festivals worldwide. Kind of unbelievable but I guess you need to believe the statistics when you see them.
What do you bring to HAPPYMOOR Harbour?
A solid work ethic, maybe a little bit of creative flair and imagination, a positive “can do” attitude.
What’s your motto?
Grace under pressure.
